Plano Startup Insight Optics Earns Spot in Prominent Healthcare Startup Accelerator Program
PLANO, TEXAS – August 26, 2015 – Insight Optics, a Plano-based ocular health startup and medical application developer, announced today that the company was accepted to the 2015 class of Health Wildcatters, a leading healthcare startup accelerator program located in Dallas, Texas. The company’s primary product, OptoView, is a mobile application that allows primary care physicians to record and forward fundus examinations to local ophthalmologists for review. The team will begin the 12-week, intensive program this month alongside nine other teams from around the country with companies that span the healthcare spectrum.
“Our team is thrilled to be joining the Health Wildcatters team,” said CSO and co-founder Aaron Enten. “It will be an honor to work within a nationally ranked program with some of the best experts in the healthcare field to optimize our product and maximize the impact it will have on patient health.”
During the program, startups receive guidance from Health Wildcatters’ extensive network of investors and mentors. The program also provides access to office space and other strategic resources that help the companies grow.
Insight Optics applied to the program because of the access to experienced medical device marketers. The team is also excited to work with the world class sponsors who provide investment and direction to companies in Health Wildcatters.
“Insight Optics has recognized an enormous opportunity that has the potential to really improve primary care,” said Hubert Zajicek, Health Wildcatters CEO. “Their application makes primary care physicians’ jobs easier, while improving patient care. It’s a win-win solution that just makes sense, and we look forward to helping them advance that solution.”
Startups will focus on refining their pitches throughout the program, which culminates with a final “Pitch Day” in November. By focusing on the pitch, Health Wildcatters aims to set the teams up to successfully raise capital after the accelerator. They have been successful thus far, with the first two startup classes raising more than $10 million after participating in the program. About Insight Optics
The fundus exam is a critical tool in preventative, corrective, and diagnostic healthcare services. Annual screenings allow physicians to detect early signs of eye diseases such as retinopathy and glaucoma, as well as complications influenced by other conditions such as diabetes and elevated intracranial pressure. Although important, multiple studies conclude that less than 50% of the recommended population complies with the exam.
At Insight Optics, our goal is to increase compliance rates by bringing trained ophthalmologists to the point of primary care. Our mobile imaging network allows primary care physicians to record and forward fundus examinations to local ophthalmologists for review. This increases the screening, diagnostic, and OptoView, to market monitoring capabilities at the primary level while providing patients with earlier disease detection and treatment options.
